Introduction
- Dates of hotel stay: 2 nights – July 29-31, 2019
- Where: Palma de Mallorca
- Paid stay / points: Paid
I booked directly on Nakar Hotel’s website. There’s several benefits to this including 5% off the rack rate, free minibar, free bottle of cava and free premium WiFi. I arrived at the hotel a bit before check-in time and my room wasn’t ready. They offered me a free welcome drink to enjoy at the bar while I waited, which I thought was a nice touch.

Location
The Nakar Hotel is centrally located in the heart of Palma de Mallorca. I recommend taking a taxi from the airport. The 7-mile journey will take you 10-minutes and set you back about €23.
Room Details
I booked a superior room, which measured just 300 square feet. While on the small side the light color palate of the furniture made the room feel larger than it actually was.
The room features a comfortable king-sized bed and a 40″ television with Apple TV so you can stream your favorite shows or YouTube videos.

For those needing to work while on the road the room has a small desk and chair. There’s plenty of electrical outlets throughout the room including both European style outlets and USB outlets.

The mini-bar was free of charge and replenished daily. In the mini-fridge there was a selection of Sprite, 2 flavors of Fanta, Coke Zero, Minute Maid Apple Juice, Minute Maid Orange Juice, Red Bull, Pellegrino, still water and a Toblerone chocolate bar.
There was also Toutatis beer, which is brewed by Michel Campioni, a Belgian artisan brewer on Mallorca. I really appreciate it when hotels offer local specialities. On top of the mini-fridge there were other sweet and savory snacks including peanut M&Ms and potato chips.

Behind one of the closet doors was the safe, which was large enough to store a laptop and also had an internal electric outlet so you can charge your devices. Below the safe was a Nespresso machine, bottled water and an assortment of glassware. The Nespresso pods were refreshed daily.

The bathroom was large and featured a double sink setup. The lighting was excellent, which I wish was the case at some other hotels. The bathroom had everything a giraffe needs to look fabulous including a magnifying mirror and professional hairdryer.

To the left of the sink was a rain shower with excellent water pressure.

The Nakar has full-sized Molton Brown bath products in the bathroom including shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. For those not familiar with Molton Brown it’s a premium London based bath, body and beauty company and their products carry a premium price tag. You normally only see their products at five-star hotels so having full-sized Molton Brown products at this four-star property was a delight. The body wash smelled amazing.

Rooftop Pool
On the 9th floor of the Nakar you’ll find a lovely rooftop pool and terrace. It has sweeping views of the Cathedral, Bellver Castle, the port of Palma and the Bay of Palma. While not large enough to do laps the pool is nice to take a dip in while enjoying the views or for taking that great Instagram photo.
The pool closes at sunset and the space is transformed into a lounge with a live DJ.

Breakfast
Breakfast is included in most room rates and is served on the 8th floor CUIT restaurant. It’s hard to see from this picture, but the restaurant has great views of Palma’s Cathedral.

There’s cava and juices available so you can make yourself a breakfast mimosa. Giraffes love mimosas!

The coffee / espresso machine made some nice lattés and cappuccinos. There was also a variety of teas on offer.

Healthy options including yogurt and fresh fruit were available.

4 different cold cereals were on offer. including my favorite, muesli.

There were several flavors of Spanish mermeladas available along with honey and Nutella. There were also brownies and almond cakes.

For those seeking more savory options there was a variety of cold cuts, cheeses and smoked salmon. They also had scrambled eggs, but I didn’t manage to get a picture.

Overall Verdict

First Class Giraffe Approved
The Nakar Hotel is in a great location, has an Instagram worthy rooftop pool, modern rooms with excellent showers and includes free extras you won’t find at most other hotel properties. It checks all of the boxes and the room rates are very affordable starting at €200 per night.
[…] In Mallorca I’m staying at an independent hotel called the Nakar, which comes highly recommended on Tripadvsior (read the trip report here). […]
